The Swire Charitable Trust is an independent UK grant making trust. Since 1975 we have been supporting charities that share our commitment to delivering positive and lasting change to UK society. We receive our funding from John Swire & Sons Ltd, the parent company of the Swire Group.

The Swire Charitable Trust’s core programmes –  Opportunity, Nature and Heritage – are open to applications on a rolling basis, with no deadlines. We prioritise UK charities that are well positioned to meet current challenges, and aim to direct our grants to where they are needed most.

In 2024, we awarded over £7m in grants to more than 280 charities.
